Things I've Realized Lately

1. I can't remember any of my old friends' phone numbers. 2. Nor their middle names. Brynn. . .maybe. Jesse Jacob, but that's easy. Dawn. . .was it the same as mine? 3. I can't even remember some of their LAST names. 4. When was the last time I saw any of them? It's been a LONG time. . . 5. Birds are LOUD 6. Housetraining a puppy is way harder than they originally tell you. 7. MTV never plays music anymore. 8. Episode III is on DVD november 1st. 9. I am sometimes a bit of a weirdo 10. I got rid of a lot of my old dresses back when I wasn't going to meetings and now I am and don't have anything to wear. 11. I MISS them all (my friends, not the dresses)

Andrew WHO?

Last week I got a voicemail on my cell while I was at work. It was from this woman. She left her name, but with her smoker's voice I couldn't understand what she was saying. I called her back (she left her number) from the foyer at work and talked to her for a minute. She said, "I believe you know my husband, Andrew." Uhhhh, I believe YOU'RE a psycho. But anyway. I told her I knew maybe one Andrew and there was no way I was talking to him on my cell phone for thirteen minutes tons of times like she was saying. She said my cell number showed up on her phone bill. Yea. . . But what she failed to mention, until I had to actually ask her about it, was that all the calls were from last year. Well, I've only had this number since the beginning of the year. So I told her that and I said all I could tell her was that for a little while I was getting calls for a girl with some typical name (Emily? Laura?) from UPS saying she had an outstanding bill with them. Hm, mayb...

I'm so disappointed. I thought I was a geek!

Modern, Cool Nerd 56 % Nerd, 65% Geek, 30% Dork For The Record: A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia. A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one. A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions. You scored better than half in Nerd and Geek, earning you the title of: Modern, Cool Nerd . Nerds didn't use to be cool, but in the 90's that all changed. It used to be that, if you were a computer expert, you had to wear plaid or a pocket protector or suspenders or something that announced to the world that you couldn't quite fit in. Not anymore. Now, the intelligent and geeky have eked out for themselves a modicum of respect at the very least, and "geek is chic." The Modern, Cool Nerd is intelligent, knowledgable and always the person to call in a crisis (needing computer advice/an arcane bit of trivia knowledge). They are the one...

Look how much John loves me!

Image
This is truly cute. Someone started a post on one of the costuming forumes we're on (the dented helmet) called "meeting women". He said how difficult it was to meet a female sci-fi geek and all that. So of course people started posting about how they met their geeky girlfriends/wives and John made a post about me! It's too cute. Here it is (and by the way, when he says he was egged on to jump in, he doesn't mean by me. He means because someone just made a comment before that about Star Trek geeks, which I am and now he is. . . .nevermind, just read): TK-1776 Posts: 399 Location: Massachusetts Re: Meeting Women Okay, now I've been egg'd on to jump in here. Let me explain my situation. I was a 501st member that attended events and enjoy life, but I was single. You see, my ex-girlfriend left me because she said that I loved Star Wars more than her. It wasn't completely true, but she took off anyways. So, a few months later I atten...

Good friends, lovebird babies, and ex-girlfriends

Friday night we hung out at Brian and Jodi’s house. I had a really good time. Their friend Jen came too and this other guy James who is also in the NEG but whom I’ve never met. We had take out Italian food and mostly sat around their dining room table and talked and laughed most of the night. It was great. Saturday I found a home for one of my lovebird babies. They are ready to go soon. This girl who is a junior in high school is buying my oldest blue baby. She’s training to be a vet, otherwise I would have never sold to her. She came to visit him on Saturday and has already named him – Baxter. My kind of girl. The pied baby is being traded to my friend Lori who is giving me an adult female in return. On Sunday I picked up the mate for the female from a woman who met me at the masspike/495 entrance who came all the way from Springfield . The male I got is a beautiful Australian cinnamon – all light yellow with a light purple tail. He’s a gorgeous bird. And he’s pretty friendly to...

K-Billy's Super Sounds of the 70's

Well, I don't know why I came here tonight I got the feeling something ain't right I'm so scared in case I fall off my chair And I'm wondering if I'll get down the stairs Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right Here I am, Stuck in the middle with you I went to the meeting with John last night. We went Tuesday too. Last night a brother came over and chatted with John for a few minutes and then he says to him, “Oh, is this your wife?” John said that no, I was his girlfriend. So I introduced myself and said I was DFd and you know what he said? He said that it would be really nice to talk to me again when I was reinstated. No one’s ever said that to me. They usually freak out and run. In the middle of the meeting when the brother who runs the literature counter was running mics he stopped by our row to ask if we wanted to stock up on magazines again. Last time I was there he gave me a ton of them. so I told him which date I was caught up to and at ...

My Best Friend is Famous!

I was driving to work yesterday listening to AAF. They were talking about mothers pushing for a law to make breast feeding in public entirely legal so they won’t be hassled about it. I guess it’s a particularly big deal at sporting events. Personally, I figure if you’ve got the guts to do it, go for it. Who hasn’t seen a breast before? Anyway, this girl called up to say that she didn’t think it was right for people to not be allowed to do it in public and that women shouldn’t have to go to a bathroom or something if they want to breast feed. The caller laughed and I knew right away that it was Sarah! I turned up the radio and they talked to her for a couple minutes. Then I called her cell phone and was like, “Were you just on the radio??” “YES!” she squealed. It was such a random thing and so funny. So I got to talk to Sarah on my way into work, which was nice and tell her about Katie and take my mind off of all the craziness with the pets and such.

Pets will be the death of me - financially, that is.

Pixel had John awake all night Monday and Tuesday because she was sick throwing up and stuff. That’s always fun. So he took her to the vet yesterday and they gave her some meds. Hopefully that’ll clear that up. It only cost us $50 too. I expected it to be more. That’s a relief. I’m not getting paid this week due to vacation last week and John is on a bi-weekly pay schedule so he won’t be paid until NEXT Friday. You gotta love it. Today poor John gets to take yet another animal to the vet. Except for this one he has to go out to Walpole because that’s where the closest avian vet is. One of the blue baby lovebirds managed to get some string in the nest wrapped around his foot. I’m pretty sure we cut it all off but it’s two days later and his foot is swollen. So off to the vet we go. It’s $51 just to be seen, $70 for each x-ray, god knows how much for meds if he needs them, and it could run us up to $600 if he needs to have his foot removed surgically. You know, I wanted to keep one, ...

Katie

Hi all, This is Kathy. I'm writing to inform you all that Katie has beaten her battle with Cancer. Katie passed away at 5:20pm Today. Myself Al and Allie are trying to hold it together as best we can. We would appericate no phone calls for a few days. Katie's Funeral will be at 4:00pm on Friday at Riverland Hills Baptist Church here in Columbia . On behalf of myself and the entire family thank you for all you support and prayers. Please keep Al and Allie in your prayers as well as Katie's mother and step father. Al will be intouch soon. Thank you Kathy Johnson We spotted the ocean at the head of the trail Where are we going, so far away And somebody told me that this is the place Where everything's better, everything's safe Walk on the ocean Step on the stones Flesh becomes water Wood becomes bone And half and hour later we packed up our things We said we'd send letters and all those little things And they knew we were lying but they smiled just the same...

Maine Review

Wow, I’ve been away from my blog for over a week! How did I stand the withdrawals?? Vacation was great. We went to ManRay on Friday with Jodi and Brian to kick it off. It wasn’t as uncomfortable as I imagined it would be. it just got really hot and really crowded in there so we didn’t stay until the end. They had this strip type show that wasn’t good. It was actually kind of boring. But other than that John and I had fun chatting with everyone and doing some serious people watching. Saturday I actually got up before John and did some cleaning before we had to leave for Maine . We got up there around 2 p.m. and waited for Sarah and Paul to arrive after she got out of work. they didn’t get there that much later than us. We went to eat at Billy’s Chowder House. Yummy! I love that place! During the few days we also went on a two hour trolley ride (got on the wrong trolley) got candy at Perkin’s Cove Candies, went to the beach (Paul and I went boogey boarding. So much fun.), played bl...
